UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination is meant to serve as a screening test wherein a candidate has to secure qualifying marks. Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in Preliminary Examination are eligible for Main Examination. Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of Objective type (Multiple Choice Questions) which carry a maximum of 400 Marks, equally divided among Paper- I (GS) and Paper – II (CSAT).
